There have been 27 Super Bowls played since the year 2000. Yes, I know the one they played in 2000 was technically the 99 Super Bowl, but it was easier to section out this way, sue me. By my count, 17 of those Super Bowls were won by players who were considered at the time to be Elite Quarterbacks. Most of these players are already in the Hall of Fame, or are not yet eligible because their Hall-worthy exploits occurred too recently (or are still occurring, in the case of players like Patrick Mahomes and Matt Stafford). Ben Johnson set out as Chicago Bears head coach with a simple goal: keep them from ever checking under the floorboards. They must never know. Never know . But before that, he had a different, more palatable goal: set the record for the highest-scoring offense in NFL history. The Bears are playing their 107th season. There are 32 teams. To have the audacity to plant your flag and set your sights on the greatest ever is frankly equally crazy. That being said, he's going for it. So far, anyways. Here, we'll live-update the Bears against the NFL record of 37.9 points per game set by the 2013 Denver Broncos when they scored 606 points across 16 games (37.875 points per game).
